Capoeira for Kids

Capoeira for Kids is a project that provides children in a small village in Brazil with a safe and supportive environment where they can learn, play, and grow. Capoeira for Kids serves as a beacon of hope, guidance, positive role models and opportunity.

Led by Wilson Salsicha, a professional sports professor, blackbelt in Tae-Kwon-Do and Contra-Mestre in Capoeira, the project brings together children from diverse backgrounds and provides them with a stable and continuous place to interact with each other, exchange information, and challenge themselves under the guidance of Wilson and the Association. The program takes place once a week at the local Oca, a type of ritual house in the jungle. After the training, the group continues to have fun at the nearby fresh-water-lake and beach whereas between all those activities we are providing lunch on those days for the entire group.

The project is open to all children in the village, regardless of background or skill level. The group typically consists of 20 or more children between the ages of 6 and 12. Also ages above are very welcome, sometimes we have participants joining of 20 years and above. The program educates the children not only in sports but also in health and value systems, providing them with valuable life skills that they can carry with them for years to come.

Capoeira for Kids serves as beneficial resource for families in the community. During the year, the Association collects and distributes food donations among the families of the Capoeira group. Each student receives a package of 10kg or 20kg. Such food distributions take place between 5 and 10 times per year. This support ensures that families have access to essential resources and can focus on supporting their children’s growth and development.
